Frequently Asked Questions

Who can attend a meeting?

Both parents are welcome. Other adult family members (i.e. grandparents, adult siblings) may attend, but children should be left at home. There is no child care provided.

My husband doesn’t feel comfortable coming to a meeting. Can I attend alone?

Yes. Spouses are encouraged to attend, but many women attend meetings on their own.

I’m expecting again after my loss. Is it okay for pregnant women to attend meetings?

Currently, we do not have a support meeting for subsequent pregnancies; therefore, we welcome pregnant women to attend our monthly meeting. Many mothers are terrified during their pregnancy after a loss and need extra support. We encourage a supportive environment during every stage of grief.

If I attend one meeting, am I committed to come every month?

No. You are welcome to attend as little or as often as you want for as long as you need. Once you’ve attended your first meeting, you will be put on our mailing list to receive reminders of each meeting for the next 6 months. If you keep attending or want to keep receiving reminders, we’ll continue.

What are the monthly topics for 2008?

We have added some new topics, so click here for a complete list.

The monthly topic doesn’t apply to me. Should I attend anyway?

Yes! The monthly topic (i.e. Another Baby, When; Couple’s Grief/Marriage) is a general guideline to help initiate conversation during the meeting. The topic is always touched on, but there is open sharing. Meetings follow the discussion and the needs of the group present.

What should I expect from a Share meeting?

Share support meetings are facilitated by two members of the Share Parents of Utah board. Every board member has experienced their own loss(es) and is a volunteer. Each meeting starts off with brief introductions. Both board members will share their story and each parent/couple is welcome to talk about their own experience. After introductions, the monthly topic will be discussed and then, there is open sharing. Interaction among the group is encouraged; however, no one is required to participate more than what is comfortable.

Do Share meetings cost anything?

No. Share meetings are free of charge.

Are there any other Share meetings in Utah?
